AKC seminar: ATP signaling in health and disease

Ivana NovakAugust Krogh Seminar

Professor Ivana Novak

University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Abstract

ATP is the molecule of life. Inside the cell, it provides energy and participates in many essential processes. Outside the cell, it is a short-range signal that regulates many cellular/tissue responses ranging from epithelial transport and insulin secretion to inflammation, diabetes, obesity and cancer.

I will illustrate the “good” and “bad” effects of ATP signaling in pancreas.
