August Krogh on Tour at University of Copenhagen
Krogh’s Insights About the Microcirculation - Relevant a Century Later
Professor Christopher Ellis, University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Abstract
The talk will emphasize how critical simple diffusion is to our understanding of tissue oxygenation today. Something Krogh made us aware of 100 years ago. This theme will be expanded to consider other simple (or not so simple) physical laws that govern oxygen transport in capillaries and the microvasculature. How this explains observations made since Krogh’s seminal work and what insights we gain that help us understand the regulation of oxygen transport.
